Moving to Denmark:
strict rules, exceptional quality of life.

Let's be straight: Denmark has no retirement visa. No passive-income route, no golden visa. The door in is a job paying DKK 552,000 a year (2026), family, or study. Here's the honest map — from official sources, checked and dated.

2026 rule changes

Three things that changed recently — and matter

The work-permit salary bar rose again. On 1 January 2026 the Pay Limit Scheme minimum went up DKK 38,000 to DKK 552,000/year, and the Supplementary Pay Limit Scheme rose to DKK 446,000. The threshold is adjusted every 1 January — plan against next year's number, not this year's.
Denmark's tax brackets were restructured in January 2026. The single 15% top tax was split into three tiers: a 7.5% middle tax, a 7.5% top tax, and a new 5% "top-top tax" on personal income above roughly DKK 2.59 million. Middle earners pay slightly less; very high earners pay more — up to a ~60.5% marginal ceiling.
The family reunification guarantee was cut. The financial guarantee required in some spousal cases was halved from about DKK 114,000 to about DKK 57,000 — DKK 61,709 at the indexed 2026 level — and the Danish partner's language requirement can now also be met by documenting five years of full-time work involving Danish. The 24-year rule and integration requirements still apply.
